WC 8 Vision Quest

This blog is about automatic writing. If you are new to this site, please take a moment to read Intro to Automatic Writing. When you go there, you will find My Introduction from the book, Journey Within – Another Dimension Of Life. The introduction is brief, but it gives a good explanation of how this process (automatic or channeled writing) began for me. Please read that before you continue reading here—everything on this site will make more sense when you do.

How It Works For Me

In these “Writer’s Corner” posts, I describe how the process of automatic writing works for me. One of the most interesting ways that the writings evolve, is when I see events unfold within my thoughts. I see pictures, or frames of pictures in rapid succession, and everything happens in an instant. In this first example, I was in the middle of a writing session, when I paused for a moment. I looked up and I saw the image of a camel carrying a heavy load. The camel stopped and stared at me through a window frame. This is what I was recording when that happened:

“Check your bags at the edge of life. Be thankful for the lessons, not bitter. Why carry around an extra bag of hate? Why carry around an extra bag of anything that will slow you down?”

The writing paused here, and the image that I described moments ago came to me. Then, at a later date, I wrote down the following description of what happened next:

“I watched with great curiosity as the camel dropped its baggage and turned to vapor. It hovered for a moment then turned sideways and passed through the eye of a needle. It was amazing.”

I will never forget that event.

Vivid Images

There was another time when I was doing some household chores and I was staring into space. Right in front of me was a scene of two entities joining together. It was strange—they were amorphous, it looked like dusty liquid flowing together. One entity was very small, and it was flowing into something similar to it, only much larger. My impression at the time that it happened, was that it was somehow metaphysical.

A few days later, I was in the middle of a writing when they interrupted and told me to write about this scene:

“Sights and sounds so distant from words, yet perfect in their simplicity…

Describe this process—this reunification—in written words Stephen.

I can still see it in my mind, but it is difficult to describe. It was like a drop of water seeping into a much, MUCH larger body of water. They were not exactly wet, they had the texture of a fine powder, but they merged together like a fluid. As both became one, both became more complete.”

Try This When You Are Stuck

Often, when I am writing, the words just stop flowing and I have to do something different. So, I stand up and move around, I may get something to drink, or straighten up around the house. It is this change of scenery (doing something that doesn’t require a lot of thinking) that allows me to go back into my thoughts and contemplate the message or the images that just came through. Usually, in a short period of time the words pick up again. Then I quickly go back to my desk and start writing before I lose the thought. This is what they had to say about this type of writing:

“In the rote of everyday duties, the mind can be set free. Once you have the image, write down what you see.”
